EAAA IPO Day 1 Subscription 0.12x, GMP Falls to ₹36
EAAA India Alternatives IPO closed its first day of bidding on Monday, 26 October 2026, subscribed just 0.12 times. The ₹1,200 crore issue, a pure offer for sale, drew bids for about 5.9 lakh shares against an offer of about 50.5 lakh shares (excluding the anchor portion). The grey market premium (GMP) cooled to around ₹35–36, down sharply from the ₹121 quoted on some trackers on 24 October. GMP is unofficial, market-reported data and can change quickly.
The slow start stands in contrast to the strong anchor response last week, when the issue raised about ₹360 crore at the upper price band of ₹1,665. With two more bidding days left, the issue needs a big pick-up from institutional investors to get fully subscribed.
EAAA IPO Day 1 Subscription: Category-Wise Numbers
| Category | Day 1 Subscription |
|---|---|
| Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIB) | 0.08x |
| Non-Institutional Investors (NII) overall | 0.33x |
| Big HNIs (bids above ₹10 lakh) | 0.49x |
| Small HNIs (bids ₹2–10 lakh) | 0.02x |
| Retail Individual Investors (RII) | 0.04x |
| Total | 0.11–0.12x |
Some trackers reported the total at 0.11x and others at 0.12x, depending on the snapshot time and whether the anchor portion is excluded; the category pattern is the same in both — NIIs led, QIBs barely participated, and retail stayed near-flat. About 10,161 applications were received on Day 1.
Why Day 1 Was Slow
- High ticket size: at ₹1,585–1,665 per share with a 9-share lot, the minimum application is ₹14,985, and the issue is a pure OFS — the company receives no fresh capital.
- Valuation caution: the issue is priced at a ₹10,765 crore valuation, and investors appear to be waiting for QIB cues on Day 2 and Day 3, as often happens with large issues.
- Cooling GMP: the premium fell from around ₹121 on 24 October to about ₹35–36 by the Day 1 close (unofficial), removing the quick-listing-gain incentive for many short-term applicants.
- Anchor comfort, not demand: the ₹360 crore anchor book, led by 10 mutual funds, was struck at the upper band, but anchor demand does not guarantee public-category subscription.

Conclusion
EAAA's Day 1 at 0.12x is a distinctly weak start for a ₹1,200 crore mainboard issue, even allowing for the usual back-ended pattern of large IPOs. The next two days — and especially QIB participation — will decide whether the issue gets through, while tonight's Jio and Paras allotments and Wednesday's listings will set the mood for the three IPOs opening on Tuesday.
